Many types of Natural stone exist to bring your project to its fullest potential. Below are listed examples of a few types of each group; many more styles and colors are in existence with new types being unearthed with each new shipment arriving in the San Francisco Bay area.

  Ø    MATERIAL
  • GRANITE

The rich colors of granite, the most dense of all commercial stones and undoubtedly the most popular natural stone used today, makes it ideal for use in all areas of a home or business. A broad range of colors and intricate natural patterns makes granite the most versatile, durable, and most maintenance-free of all natural stones available.

  • MARBLE

Marble is a stone that has been associated with the old nations of the world and their artwork, from the great Parthenon of Greece to the statue of David by Michelangelo. It has become a valued stone over the ages, gracing many projects, being used in such places as ornate fireplaces, shower walls, flooring, decorative table tops and many more.

  • TRAVERTINE

One of the building blocks of the old world, travertine was used in such monolithic structures as the infamous Coliseum in Rome and it is still used in Italy and around Europe to this day. Very often it is used for flooring, walls and exterior projects as well as multiple decorative functions such as fireplaces and countertops. Coming both filled and smooth or in its natural unfilled state, travertine is wonderfully durable material as history itself shows it to be.

  • LIMESTONE

A more casual stone for those with a more relaxed taste in natural stones. The light and earthy tones are great for warming a room up with the natural light that filters in. Coming both in polished and honed finishes, this stone is also great for almost any use.

  Ø    FINISH TYPES
  • POLISHED

Easily the most common of finishes, this is indicated by the high level of sheen on the surface of the stone.

  • HONED

This is typically a flat finish on the stone whereby the sealer is hardened into the stone surfacing to create a smooth natural look.

  • FLAMED

This is the process of heating the surface of a stone up with high level flame heating to create a textured surfacing. This is more ideally used for exterior projects or flooring.
